The City of Huntington’s Public… The City of Huntington’s Public Works Department has launched a pilot project in an effort to reduce costs associated with maintaining tree pits in the downtown area. Last week, this flexible, porous pavement made of recycled tires was installed in four tree pits in front of City Hall on 5th Avenue. The material is environmentally safe, does not harm the tree or its root system, prevents weeds from growing in the pits and is ADA compliant.
