Help us attend the 2000 National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference....

This year, the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, July 24-29, 2000. At the conference, members of the Huntington Police Department Explorer Post #64 would represent the City of Huntington and compete in individual and team events. They must show their proficiency in such events as: building searches, felony car stops, traffic accident investigation, domestic violence intervention, crime scene search and investigation, physical agility testing and others.

In addition to competitive events, other program opportunities will be provided, including volleyball tournaments, leadership training, career fairs, nightly entertainment, seminars and access to physical education and athletic facilities.

Our explorers are looking forward to this competition as they are allowed to play the role of police officers in realistic role situations.

It will cost about $325 per explorer to attend the conference, and 11 of our explorers are planning on attending. The fee includes lodging for 5 nights in the Olympic Village at the Georgia Institute of Technology, 14 meals, and the conference program fees.

You can help send an explorer to the conference by a full or partial sponsorship.

Any sponsor who donates $50 or more will receive a 8 X 10 photo of the explorer unit at the Atlanta conference and a personalized thank you note from the explorers.

Full sponsors will receive the photo of the group, a thank you note from the explorers, and an official Huntington Police Department Explorer patch.

If you wish to sponsor an explorer or have questions, please contact Cpl. K. R. Beckett through our web site or at the City of Huntington Police Department (304) 696-4420.
