Huntington Wins Cultural Diversity Award from National League of Cities

The City of Huntington and its “Open to All” diversity campaign received the first-place award in the 50,000 and under population category for the National League of Cities’ (NLC) City Cultural Diversity Awards Program during a conference in Washington, D.C., on Monday, March 12.

Designed to promote and reward inclusive policies in the nation’s cities, towns and villages, the awards program recognizes communities that have developed innovative ways of supporting diversity.

The “Open to All” diversity campaign actively promotes an inclusive environment for all people in the City of Huntington. It is a product of the Huntington Mayor’s Diversity Advisory Committee. The Committee’s mission is to build community-wide relationships; to be a voice on issues of diversity and inclusion through education, communication and advocacy; and to facilitate positive change. Huntington was joined by Tallahassee, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada, in receiving first-place awards in the awards program.
