Huntington Announces Annual Amnesty Period for Certain Delinquent Fees
The City of Huntington is offering its annual amnesty period for waiving penalties on delinquent municipal/fire protection and refuse fees beginning Wednesday, April 15, through Monday, June 15, 2026.
This limited-time opportunity applies only to owner-occupied properties and offers relief on penalties only—it does not affect the principal amount of interest owed, in accordance with IRS regulations. To take advantage of the amnesty, propertty owners must pay the full principal amount due no later than June 30, 2026.
To qualify for the penalty waiver, the following criteria must be met:
- The outstanding balance must be $1,000 or less and past due for less than 5 years.
- The property owner must have not received a penalty waiver within the past 10 years.
- If liens are placed on the property, the owner must pay all lien interest and court costs along with the principal amounts due for fire protection and refuse fees. Only penalties will be waived.
- The property must not be under contract for sale during the amnesty period.
